Cory Bytof will become the new Sustainability Coordinator for the City of San Rafael, in addition to his present duties as the City's Volunteer Program Coordinator, effective immediately. His duties will comprise overseeing implementation of environmental sustainability programs across departments, and will include public outreach, data gathering, and fund development, as well as his volunteer coordination duties.

The Sustainability Program is about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations with a specific focus on the environment. As Chair of the San Rafael Clean Campaign for the past six years and as a member of the City's Green Team, Cory's experience and involvement with environmental concerns is a perfect fit for his new assignment. Cory will continue projects initiated by Bob Brown, retiring Community Development Director, such as the Climate Change Action Plan that Mr. Brown developed with other staff and community input. The Sustainability Program is now under the direction of the City Manager's office and will be comprised of a team, which will include Jim Schutz, Assistant City Manager, and Stephanie Lovette, Acting Economic Development Director.

Volunteers will play an important role in Cory's new job, so continue to learn more here on the San Rafael Volunteers web site or throughour newsletter or Facebook page to find out how to help continue the fine work of the Sustainability Program.
